Default ...the HELL is wrong with these people?

So I had an exam today, and I am feeling totally crappy right now. I have a sore throat, and I basically made it to college by a combination of Asprin, Water and Strepsils (AKA Throat Sweets).

I ask the chief examiner person if I can have my water with me, since I have a sore throat. He says it's fine. I check the exam guidelines...nothing listed about NOT allowing water in the exam room/hall. Within 2 minutes, some annoying old fat smelly invigilator has taken it off me and put it at the front of the exam hall. Said it was against exam guidelines to keep it...of course knowing I can't reply because of exam conditions.

What the HELL!? How could I possibly be using A BOTTLE OF WATER to cheat? It had no stickers on it, and it was a transparent bottle. It was on the floor, so I couldn't spill it on my work. Are these people stupid?

Anyways, post similar experiences with half-brained moronic dimwits outside of GW/discuss.

I had an exam today and its not against regulations to drink water in exams, its encouraged.

Why are all the invigilators old?

I'm sure if I had raised my hand, waited for them to realise I didn't just want 10 extra sheets of paper, then had to get up to SHOW THEM which no-sticker non-descript bottle of water had MY germs on it, drink it with the eyes of 200 other people on me, then have to wander back to my seat, having wasted 5 minutes of a Further Maths exam.

sometimes people just like to give other people a hard time i suppose. everyones run into one of those before.

one time, i was cut off by this guy who swerved across two lanes into mine. i had to avoid him hitting me so i went into the lane to the right of me, then i sped ahead of him to make the left turn i was supposed to make. i was going probably 5 miles over the speed limit and a cop pulls ME over!! for speeding.. even though he said he saw the whole thing...

I feel your pain. I had shitty invigilators too. Including idiots who never brought extra paper then spent 15 minutes to get me more. That's why you should ask for it ahead of time. Also professors that expect you to sit an exam with a broken arm and writing hand when the regulations say you can sit them the next time. Complain about that invigilator. It's all you can do.

Supposedly if you write the answers very small on the inside of the bottle the water will magnify them allowing you to easily see them. But like you said, the bottle had no stickers so it'd be pretty obvious if you had done something to that extent.

Due to reading this thread I learned a new word. I had no idea what an invigilator is; here they are known as proctors.

Anyway, sorry about your experience. Sometimes schools are just shitty like that.

Invigilator is a ridiculous term
It's supervisor over here, which I think is a lot more apt.

When I was in high school, a friend brought a bottle of cocacola to our finals. The teacher took it away told him he could get it after we were dismissed. No problem at all, my friend was cool with it. So as soon as this other person finishes the exam....she pulls out a effing bag of potato chips...and starts eating them LOUDLY, while we were all still taking the test. The teacher said not one word...I was truly shocked and amazed.

I have realized why it happened! they figured you were smuggling magical forks in the water that could transform into eyes allowing you to see everyone else's answers...or their just fat freaks with no lives.

Any invigilator who takes away an unlabled water bottle is most assuradly an idiot. A fair amount of invigilators have superioty complexes, including turning up late to an exam. My mother organises exams for a University, and there are two types of people she hates to deal with: invgilators and lecturers.

You should complain, especially if the exam hall is overheated.

We were taking this REALLY HARD pop quiz. So then this kid says "I didn't read the chapter" and I saw him read it in study hall. So the teacher lets him go and about half the faces were looking at him looking like "WTF?" About half the class got like C+, that kid got an A-, go figure.

I took the ELA (NY) state test a long time ago. Since there is a lot of essays in it it gets very dull so my english teacher said to keep you on track bring mints. I brought a few pepermints from the tip. The person giving my class the test was my Spanish teacher. I put the 5 mints on the table IN THE MIDDLE OF HER READING she said ABSALOUTLY NOT THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! she took them all and threw em in the garbage and took the test away. She told me that it could be a method of cheating. At this pint since im not taking the test i have 4 hours to myself in school. So I went to my guidance counsler and asked if what she did was acceptable and my guidance counsler told me she should of taken them away and given them back at the end of the test. He went to the principal and to him. She got suspended from teaching for 3 days and I took the test the next da.

She failed me that quarter for bad behavior >_<

I was going on a flight and they took away my plastic forks, knives, and spoons at the airport

And then promptly handed out fresh ones on the plane during the flight when a meal was delivered.
